Please note: VPAM will be closed until further notice starting today, February 6, due to ongoing maintenance issues.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Updates will be announced as soon as possible.
As part of the recently closed exhibition "Act On It! Artists, Community, and the Brockman Gallery in Los Angeles," VPAM collaborated with Writ Large Projects (@writlargeprojects) on a series of programs that encouraged visitors to create their own work in response to the art on view.
Rooted in the themes of the exhibition—visibility, empowerment, and cultural affirmation—this community writing project captures moments of creation, reflection, and dialogue.
Here are just a few of the writings, including a blackout poem, created during these programs. You can read more on the VPAM blog, at the link in our bio. ↑
“Act On It!” was organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (@lacma) in collaboration with the Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles College; Riverside Art Museum; Lancaster Museum of Art and History; and California State University, Northridge, Art Galleries.

Did you know artist Ofelia Esparza also works in watercolor? In addition to recreating a selection of Esparza’s iconic altars, “Ofelia Esparza: A Retrospective” also showcases her wide-ranging art practice in a variety of mediums. Watch Cicely Beltran (@lolliebell), VPAM Program Consultant, discuss the significance of Esparza’s watercolors.
Plan your visit to see these works in person! “Ofelia Esparza: A Retrospective” is on view through April 18, 2026.
Please note: VPAM will be closed today, Friday, January 30.
We recognize this has been a difficult time for the communities we serve. At VPAM, we work to create a space that is welcoming to all. We believe in the strength of Angelenos and the immense solidarity we`re seeing across the city.
We will reopen during our regular hours on Saturday, January 31.
