New Voices: The 2026 ELAC Juried Student Art Exhibition

OPENING RECEPTION: April 25, 2026, 2:00 to 4:00 PM

New Voices: The 2026 ELAC Juried Student Art Exhibition highlights exceptional artworks produced at East Los Angeles College during the Spring 2025 through Fall 2025 semesters. The exhibition features ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, theater and costume design, and mixed media works produced across several instructional departments on campus and is an opportunity for burgeoning student artists to showcase their work.

The exhibition is organized by the Vincent Price Art Museum and is juried by and curated by Jheanelle Brown.

About the Juror

Jheanelle Brown is a curator, educator, and writer in Los Angeles, whose curatorial practice creates frameworks to explore the boundlessness of Black life in experimental and non-fiction film and video. She is on faculty at California Institute of the Arts and curates film programming at REDCAT and the Los Angeles Filmforum.

She recently co-curated the exhibition KAOS Theory: The Afrokosmic Media Arts of Ben Caldwell, co-presented by Art + Practice and the California African American Museum, and served as Project Director and Curator of Experimentations: Imag(in)ing Knowledge in Film for LA Filmforum. 

“I love learning from students and younger folks— pushing and challenging my perspective and my assumptions. I’m looking forward to viewing all of the submissions!” Jheanelle shared.
