With VPAM’s extensive collection of over 7,000 artworks, housed within the Thomas Silliman Vault, the museum provides powerful resources for arts education, exhibition development, and scholarly research.
Founded in 1950 with a donation of 90 artworks from actor and art collector Vincent Price and his wife Mary Grant Price, the Vincent Price Art Museum was established as a teaching museum with a mission to serve the college and surrounding East Side and San Gabriel Valley communities.

The Museum became a collecting institution in 1950 and its permanent collection has grown to include more than 7,000 artworks from many time periods and regions of the world. The collection includes works on paper, paintings, three-dimensional objects, and time based media, most of which are housed in the museum vault. Displayed periodically through rotating on-site exhibitions, the collection is also loaned to be exhibited at other cultural institutions across the United States and internationally.

A few of the artists represented in the museum’s far-ranging collection are Raúl Angiano, Don Bachardy, Rafael Coronel, Gronk, Rico LeBrun, Andre Miripolsky, Kate Steinitz, Rufino Tamayo, Patssi Valdez, Howard Warshaw, Charles White, and Milford Zornes.
Through a robust modernization and inventory process, VPAM will use the most up-to-date technology and museum protocols to steward the collection and ensure access for generations to come. VPAM’s collection will be digitized and reflect the diverse communities the museum serves. It will also provide a robust educational resource to the public through exhibitions, publications, education programs, digital initiatives, and other learning opportunities.
